T(w)een Gardening Workshop
Saturday, August 132:00—3:30 PMCentral Library LawnCentral Library79 Highland Ave, Somerville , MA, 02143
Join Green City Growers for the second of two gardening workshops for teens and tweens ages 10-18!
Pollinators, like bees and butterflies, need the sweet nectar of flowers as food. You can make a difference by planting flowers wherever you live. Come join us to make pollinator seed pods, or balls full of soil and native flower seeds, to scatter in your garden or neighborhood. You will also transplant a flower seedling into a terra cotta pot to take home and care for. As part of this workshop, we will show you how to plant seeds to take home and watch germinate, make an insect watering station, and explore the vegetable garden at Somerville Public Library.
We encourage you to upcycle materials and incorporate them into the planting activity if you have them at home.
- Container for planting seeds such as a plastic egg carton or individual serving yogurt container or a small sour cream container
- A plastic lid that fits under your container to catch water from drainage holes
There's no registration necessary. Just wear comfortable clothes and come ready to get your hands dirty!
These workshops are made possible with funding by the Friends of the Somerville Public Library.
