Gallery @ SPL Presents: Scenes from Somerville with Stephanie Vecellio
Sunday, December 33:00—4:45 PMAuditoriumCentral Library79 Highland Ave, Somerville , MA, 02143
This month, the library is pleased to display the artwork of local artist Stephanie Vecellio in the Gallery @ SPL with her exhibition: Scenes from Somerville. Please join us for a reception celebrating the exhibit.
About the Exhibit:
Scenes from Somerville is a series of observational drawings that take inspiration from the neighborhoods of Somerville (and sometimes the Greater Boston Area). They were all drawn directly from life, using marker and pen. Stephanie aims to capture shadow and light in playful saturation, bringing unexpected color to everyday scenes and infusing them with a sense of nostalgia for the present.
About the Artist:
Stephanie Vecellio is a local illustrator and designer who has lived in Somerville since 2014. She grew up in Connecticut and earned her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her freelance projects range from packaging and textile design to branding and children’s book illustration. When she’s not making art, Stephanie spends her time playing with and co-organizing Boston Belles Pinball (a women’s competitive pinball league) and hanging out with her adorably scruffy rescue dog Zeppie. You can find her selling her work at the Somerville Flea, or online at www.stephanievecellio.com, and on Instagram: @stepinhoney
