This month, the library is pleased to display the artwork of local artist Florinda Freda in the Gallery @ SPL with her exhibition: Mother Earth's Call: A Reflection on Climate Change. Please join us for a reception celebrating the exhibit.

About the Exhibit:

Welcome to "Mother Earth's Call: A Reflection on Climate Change," an art display that serves as a poignant reminder of our interconnectedness with the planet and the urgent need for environmental awareness and action. As a steward of the earth, I have been called upon by Mother Earth to share these pieces with you, using a combination of paper collage and paint to convey the devastating effects of climate change caused by human activities driven by corporate greed and ambition.

Through this exhibit, I aim to amplify the voices of our children, families, plants, and animals affected by our actions, urging viewers to consider the consequences of our behaviors and the importance of making sustainable choices. By personifying Mother Earth as a nurturing force urging us to take action, the artwork prompts us to take responsibility and work towards a more sustainable future. Each small change we make contributes to a collective effort toward positive transformation, fostering a deeper connection to the earth and all its wonders.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of reflection and action, as we heed Mother Earth's call for support with love and embrace the urgency of the climate crisis by working together towards a harmonious coexistence with the planet and all its inhabitants.
