Join us for a family book discussion for kids and teens ages 10+ and their grownups!
The West Branch Library is one of 40 public libraries, schools, historical societies, and museums across Massachusetts selected to be part of the Mass Center for the Book's 2024 Great Reads from Great Places book box program. We're so excited about this opportunity!
Participants will receive a copy of Colonization and the Wampanoag Story and a notebook from the Mass Center for the Book. Discussion questions will be provided ahead of the meeting in case you want to talk about the book at home.
Each book in the Race to the Truth series is written by a member of the marginalized community whose history is explored within it. Colonization and the Wampanoag Story is told from the perspective of the Indigenous Nations who inhabited this land for thousands of years before colonization. Author Linda Coombs (Aquinnah Wampanoag) has spent her career in museums, at cultural sites, and writing children's books.
Registration is required; please plan to read the book ahead of time.
