About the instructor:

Lisa was introduced to ASL in the 3rd grade and fell in love with the manual, visual language. Lisa continued to take classes and study ASL throughout her life. Her earlier work included using ASL with a Deaf adult with cerebral palsy, bringing him to many ASL social events and later worked in the school and home with a child with weak vocal chords who communicated through ASL. Lisa was the high school science teacher at the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham for 2 years where she taught all science in ASL and was immersed in the Deaf culture environment. After that wonderful experience, Lisa returned to school and earned her Master's in Occupational Therapy at Tufts University. Over the years, she has taught ASL to a variety of school and library groups upon requests. Currently, Lisa works as an early intervention occupational therapist, using ASL as needed with her young clients and families.
