Poetry Reading with Nina Rubinstein Alonso and Tomas O’Leary

Join us for a poetry reading at the Central Library with local poets Nina Rubinstein Alonso, who will be sharing her newest collection called Travels With Fernando about months traveling Spain and Tangier with her husband some years ago, and Tomas O’Leary, who will be reading from his latest work: In the Wellspring of the Ear, which brings together some of the best poems from his previous work, alongside 17 new pieces brimming with the Celtic devilment and music.
About The Poets:
Nina Rubinstein Alonso's poetry and stories have appeared in Ploughshares, The New Yorker, U. Mass. Review, Writing in a Woman's Voice, Nixes Mate, Ibbetson Street, Broadkill Review, Southern Women's Review, Peacock Journal, Sumac, Wilderness House, The New Boston Review, Pensive Journal, Taj Mahal Review, etc. Her previous work includes, This Body (David Godine Press), Riot Wake (Cervena Barva Press), a story collection Distractions En Route (Ibbetson Street Press), and Travels With Fernando (Wilderness House Press). She's also the editor of Constellations a Journal of Poetry and Fiction, reading submissions for our fourteenth annual print issue. She taught at Boston Ballet for eleven years and continues as director and teacher of Fresh Pond Ballet.
Tomas O’Leary is a poet, translator, music-maker, singer, artist, and expressive therapist. His latest work, from Lynx House Press, is In the Wellspring of the Ear: New & Selected Poems. Previous books of poetry include: Fool at the Funeral, The Devil Take a Crooked House, and A Prayer for Everyone. A teacher for many years — (college, high school, elementary, adult ed) — he also worked for decades with folks who have Alzheimer's, playing Irish accordion and eliciting cognitive and emotional responses through songs, stories, poems, & free-wheeling conversation.
